Testimonials

Paul Thorman
London Skolars Rugby League Club
“We asked Robbie to come and speak at our annual luncheon ahead of the ETF Securities Capital Challenge in the heart of the City of London. In what was a wide ranging audience consisting of men and women, Rugby League fans and non RL City workers alike Robbie managed to find exactly the balance required to keep the audience engaged.

He entertained the crowd with his anecdotes and gave a brilliant and humorous account of his life in football both on and off the field.

Robbie also went above and beyond to speak with attendees of the event both before and after the luncheon. We have had glowing feedback and would not hesitate to hire him again. I couldn’t recommend Robbie Paul highly enough.”

"Dear Robbie,

I thought I should write to you straight away to thank you for being our speaker at the Oxford University Rugby League Club annual dinner last night. The speaker can really make or break a dinner, and in this case you made it your own. Both last night and this morning I have been contacted by students, Old Boys and club guests all saying that you were one of the best speakers they have heard in any context. Your ability to engage the audience, especially one as diverse as ours with old and young, men and women, rugby and non-rugby, was unparalleled.

I was particularly impressed by the way in which amongst all the humour and laughter you got across some key messages about dedication, commitment and team-work.

I would be happy to recommend you to anyone who is organising a dinner and looking for a speaker, and should anyone ask for a reference please feel free to put them in touch with me. Many thanks and best wishes."

"Dear Robbie,

Robbie Paul the speaker is a true professional, equal in every way to Robbie Paul the rugby star. My memories of Robbie’s speech are as vivid as the moment he uttered his opening remarks. Robbie effortlessly won the hearts and minds of a large and diverse audience who hung on to his every word and gesture. Creative, motivational and full of humour, Robbie shared his experience, insights and knowledge with energy, passion and enthusiasm.

The closing remarks of his memorable speech were met with rapturous applause, a just reward for an inspiring address to over 1,200 guests. Almost a year later and Robbie’s words still reverberate in my mind and bring a smile to my face. Robbie was a winner with the rugby ball and he is a winner with a microphone.

I have no hesitation in recommending Robbie as a guest speaker at any event.

Events and After Dinner Speaking

For about a year now I have been actively working on the after dinner and speaking circuit and I am enjoying every moment of it.

My life as a professional sportsman, currently in its 17th season, and experience as a sports marketing undergraduate has together given me a unique insight into the sporting profession both from an athlete’s and administrative point of view. These two perspectives together allow me to deliver a unique presentation involving elements from the locker room, battlefield and board room. On occasion I have also involved my cultural heritage (New Zealand Maori) just to spice things up a bit.

I have spoken at sportsman’s dinners, business luncheons and breakfasts, schools as well as educational institutes for graduation ceremonies.

Public speaking is a vibrant and entertaining industry which I enjoy being a part of and as they always say “if you enjoy it then it then it can’t be work”.
